WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Purdue Sports) — The Purdue men’s basketball team will play in the 2017 Battle 4 Atlantis at Atlantis Resort, Paradise Island, Bahamas, ESPN announced Friday afternoon. The Boilermakers are among an eight-team field that will each play three games during Thanksgiving 2017 in the Bahamas.

Purdue will be joined by Villanova, Arizona, North Carolina State, Tennessee, SMU, Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa during the three-day event over Thanksgiving. Atlantis will be transformed into a 4,000-seat arena to host four games each day from Nov. 22-24.

The tournament is considered one of the elite holiday tournaments and next year’s field has made a combined 179 NCAA Tournaments between them (Villanova – 35; Arizona – 31; Purdue – 28; North Carolina State – 24; Western Kentucky – 22; Tennessee – 20; SMU – 11; Northern Iowa – 8).

In each of the last two years (not including the 2016 event which concludes Friday night), the eventual champion made the Final Four (Syracuse – 2015 champ; Wisconsin – 2014 champ). It will mark Purdue’s first visit to Atlantis and its third appearance in a tropical climate in the last four years, having made trips to Maui (2014) and Cancun (2016).
