LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) — Logansport city leaders are in talks whether to proceed with the city’s bike lane project.

Funding for the next phase of the project will be up for discussion at a Finance Committee meeting Wednesday night.

The project was inherited from former Mayor Ted Franklin’s administration. Over the past few months, the city has laid out bicycle lanes along several blocks downtown.

Mayor Dave Kitchell says the project will have to be continued as it was approved by the previous administration or completely scrapped.

“We’ve already invested a lot of time and effort in doing this and if we see this through to fruition, we can do it and get it done,” he said. “It’s not going to jeopardize our paving budget or anything we have going on right now.”

Kitchell says he expects the city council to make a decision at Wednesday’s meeting.
