Murder suspect’s attorney asks for change of venue

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A lawyer for the man accused of shooting a Lafayette elementary art teacher is asking for his trial to be held somewhere else.

Attorney Christopher Paul Phillips tells News 18 he has requested a change of venue for the case against 19-year-old Darius Printup.

Printup is charged with murder in the death of 52-year-old Kristi Redmon.

Redmon was shot outside her home on Ridgeway Avenue on the night of Oct. 12.

Printup faces up to 88½ years behind bars. He remains in the Tippecanoe County Jail without bond.
