LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — CityBus is helping Food Finders Food Bank fill its pantries for the holidays.

As a part of the ongoing Drive Away Hunger campaign, riders are asked to drop nonperishable items into bins as they board the bus. In addition to food, people can also donate other household items such as cleaning products and toiletries.

CityBus manager Tonya Agnew said any size donation makes a big difference for people who need help putting food on the table.

“Collecting on the buses gives people an opportunity … riders who didn’t get out to other events that Food Finders has held,” Agnew said. “It gives them a nice, convenient way to be able to drop something in the bin and help out folks in need.”

Agnew said the food drive provides a little more to complete a holiday feast.

“This gives folks who need that little extra help an opportunity to have a really great meal with their family and friends,” Agnew said. “Holiday time can be a difficult time, and this is a way for them to feel supported.”

The bus food drive is Wednesday only and goes until late in the evening. You can also donate at the CityBus Center on Third Street in Lafayette or at its headquarters on Canal Road.
