Purdue student dead, 2 injured in Howard Co. crash

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A Purdue student is dead and two others were injured after a crash in Howard County.

Howard County Sheriff’s deputies were called around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, to the intersection of State Road 19 and County Road 300 South in Howard County for the crash.

Deputies said a pickup truck – driven by Hayden Vint, 22, of Greentown – was heading east on CR 300 South approaching SR19 while a Dodge Charger – driven by Frank Guffey, 58, of Windfall – was on SR19 heading north and approaching CR 300 South. A witness told deputies the pickup disregarded a stop sign and the vehicles collided.

Vint was ejected from the truck and died from his injuries at the scene. Purdue’s Brian Zink confirmed with News 18 Vint was a student at the University.

Guffey and a juvenile passenger were taken to Community Howard Regional Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The case is still under investigation.
